Kodaal EKP — The Flagship Product

Kodaal EKP is a self-hosted, single-tenant enterprise knowledge platform designed for organisations that need a reliable, auditable knowledge base with a built-in AI assistant. The platform is the authoritative place to upload and organise documents, retrieve them later, and query institutional knowledge through a chat interface that always grounds its answers in real source material.

In a company of around fifteen people, institutional knowledge quickly becomes fragmented across drives, chats, and personal systems. Files exist, but answers are slow to find, context is lost, and onboarding becomes repetitive. EKP consolidates this knowledge into one system that respects access rules by design, exposes a clean interface for uploading and browsing content, and adds an AI layer that can answer questions, cite sources, and retrieve the exact documents that support its responses.

The Knowledge Vault

EKP organises knowledge into projects and folders. Every uploaded file is preserved as-is as the authoritative source artifact. The platform then produces a structured mirror bundle — a clean Markdown representation optimised for search and AI retrieval. For PPTX, slide text and speaker notes are captured by slide number. For XLSX, structured sidecars include CSV exports and formula maps. Originals and mirrors are stored side-by-side, and retrieval can always surface the original file for download.

AI-Powered Retrieval

After mirroring, EKP splits document text into retrieval chunks with stable identifiers and section paths. Embeddings are created for semantic search. The chat model is user-selectable — the platform ships with Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, and custom GGUF provider support for locally hosted models. Every answer includes citations pointing to the underlying chunks and originating documents, making responses auditable and verifiable.

AI Library Intelligence

Every document uploaded to EKP is automatically classified by AI — document type, language, subject, department, tags, named entities, summary, and sentiment. This happens during ingestion with zero manual effort, making the knowledge base more organised and searchable over time. Classification supports cloud providers (Anthropic Haiku, OpenAI GPT-4o-mini) and fully local models for organisations requiring zero external data transmission.

Security & Compliance

Access enforcement is strict and silent. If a user is not permitted to see something, the content simply does not appear — no redacted placeholders, no “something exists here” hints. The platform supports three roles (admin, user, guest) with attribute-based access control. Rate limiting covers thirteen API endpoints. An append-only audit trail records every significant action with actor identity, IP hash, and server timestamps.
